
Chicken Tikka Masala
Classic Chicken Tikka Masala with tender chicken in a rich creamy tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 gramsChicken breast
cut into chunks
- 150 gramsYogurt
for marinating
- 2 tablespoonsGinger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoonLemon juice
- 1 teaspoonGaram masala
- 0 ½ teaspoonTurmeric powder
- 1 teaspoonRed chili powder
- 1 teaspoonSalt
- 3 tablespoonsVegetable oil
- 2 tablespoonsButter
- 1 mediumOnion
finely chopped
- 400 gramsTomato puree
- 150 mlHeavy cream
- 2 tablespoonsCoriander leaves
chopped for garnish
- 1 teaspoonCumin seeds
- 1 teaspoonGround coriander
- 1 teaspoonFenugreek leaves (Kasuri methi)
crushed (optional)
Instructions
In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Add chicken pieces and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
Preheat grill or oven to 200°C (390°F). Thread chicken pieces onto skewers and grill for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and slightly charred.
Heat oil and butter in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Then add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add ground coriander and cook for a minute. Pour in the tomato puree and cook on medium heat until oil separates and the sauce thickens, about 10-15 minutes.
Add grilled chicken pieces to the sauce. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream and crushed fenugreek leaves. Cook for another 3-4 minutes on low heat.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or basmati rice.
